Google Earth joins Nemo

The latest version of Google Earth 1.1 for Android includes a feature that will allow you to delve the depths of the ocean.

Google partnered with Ocean Showcase to include shipwreaks and marine research.

This version of Earth for Android includes an “Explore the Ocean” layer. Seemingly similar to the Ocean Showcase, this feature shows off hundreds of images and video from Google’s content partners.

You can download the application on your android handset using the QR code below.

Ever see a car on the street and think..Thats well cool, but haven’t got a clue what it is or what its worth.
Well Auto Trader have created a nice little mobile application that does just that and also tells you where you can buy a similar one in your region.
Using a number plate web-service such as the DLVA to search for the number plate which is taken from the picture it can locate and return all the information you would need.

Plancast — a service that lets you share future plans with friends, and view those from others — just got a whole lot more useful today. The company announced its API (application programming interface), which gives developers the ability to use Plancast’s data in their apps, reports the technology blog TechCrunch.

The service is best described as “Foursquare for the future.” Instead of telling people where you are, you can broadcast what you’re going to be doing at any given point in the future. It’s similar to a shared calendar, except it offers up a social graph like Twitter or Foursquare. You have the ability to follow people you’re interested in, and you can also lock down your profile to select readers. Not surprisingly, Plancast is looking to integrate with calendar services like Google Calendar. It also recently added the option to import events from Facebook.

hoopala has come a long way since then and is well worth checking out, because you can have your first layar AR running in a matter of minutes.

Is the iPhone 4’s Reception-Killing Antenna a Deal-Breaker?

The new iPhone 4 hit the stores and streets yesterday. With a gadget this popular, every tiny flaw gets blown up to apocalyptic proportion. Most of those issues turn out to be only a minor issue, either fixed in the next round of manufacturing or forgotten about in a few weeks.
BUT, this is kinda a major one in my view, if you hold your phone the wrong way it drops a call, what is the right or wrong way to hold your phone?

Apple responded in two ways today. A personal email to Steve Jobs resulted in a typically terse, utterly Jobsian response: “Just avoid holding it that way.” Apple also issued an official statement:

Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases.

I believe mobile is the future, I also believe 3D mobile will be hitting the main stream late this year or early next.
Why?

Because Samsung SCH-B710 have already developed a smartphone that is 3D and doesn’t require glasses.

Julien Flack, CTO of Dynamic Digital Depth, who has spent more than a decade perfecting software that can convert 2-D content to 3-D in real time. It could help solve the biggest problem with 3-D: the need for special glasses that deliver a separate image to each eye.

Flack’s software synthesizes 3-D scenes from existing 2-D video by estimating the depth of objects using various cues; a band of sky at the top of a frame probably belongs in the far background, for example. It then creates pairs of slightly different images that the viewer’s brain combines to produce the sensation of depth.

Samsung has licensed 3-D content generated by Dynamic Digital Depth for its latest 3-D phone, the W960, released in March. Research firm DisplaySearch recently predicted that by 2018 there will be 71 million such devices worldwide.

PayPal launching its Mobile Payments Library to select developers, the company today announced it’s opening its new platform up to the entire iPhone development community.

It seems like it’s been a long time coming, but PayPal’s new Mobile Payments Library is a quick and easy way to add checkout functionality for physical goods and services sold through apps on the iPhone, without having to worry about keeping customers’ personal financial information secure.

The company announced the platform will be available for other mobile OS platforms in the future, but is already boasting some unique iPhone apps that have already built-in PayPal’s new mobile payment technology.
