Creating Nature with Sound.
A lovely installation where the user can create nature and animals by blowing / talking into the mic.
MOC by Lab212 explores the relationship between sound and image through simple interactions and fun. Exhibited in the French Institute of Meknes (Moc à Meknès, Maroc, à l’occasion du FICAM10.), MOC is an imaginary landscape that passes in front of the viewer. Whistling into a microphone, a tree grows: its shape will evolve in real time based on the sound produced. At each pause, the tree stops growing. At the sound of the voice, random fantastic animals will emerge in the forest.
Setup:
- microphone on a stand
- 2.30 x 2.30m retroprojected screen
- videoprojector and a mirror
- custom software written in C++/openFrameworks

HTML5 is pretty neat.

8-bit Watch

member that aggravating 8-bit pixeled watch icon that used to replace your mouse cursor whenever your Apple computer was ‘taking time’ to finish a task? Displaying a wristwatch to show your computer was busy always felt like an odd metaphor – likewise for the sand clock icon on Microsoft computers – yet once it was replaced by the animated rainbow warp, people immediately missed it.
Luckily for all you pixel-nostalgics out there, the icon watch now boomeranged into the physical world. To be worn as a wrist clock for 8-bit retro time telling. Get yours and keep this lost symbol of the pixel era alive. Pass it on to your children!

Finger pulse vending machine: e-money at your fingertips
Wow, this really is the future, e-money, no cards or cash just your finger.
Shown at RetailTech 2010 this Coca-Cola vending machine that uses Hitachi’s “finger vein authentication” (VeinID) technology when you want to buy a drink.
The biometric system employs finger pulse recognition to see who you are. This might seem a bit sci-fi, but it is apparently safe, convenient and efficient (no need to store lots of data like passwords, log-in numbers, IDs etc).

adidas Google Streetview Marathon Mode

New adidas work from RIOT. This time mapping the entire Boston Marathon course onto Google Streetview and adding an overlay with landmarks and some handy hints from miCoach, Greg McMillan and last years winner Salina Kosgei. This is the first iteration, look out for some updates and additional functionality over the coming weeks as well as the launch of a London Marathon version which will include some competition/treasure hunt style activity.
